Yesterday on October 19, the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum (ANCM) hosted the first day of the 3-day international conference Children in Museums.​

Sevda Mammadaliyeva, Deputy Minister of Culture delivered an opening speech and mentioned that such events create vast opportunities in learning and sharing international experiences, further strengthening the cultural cooperation between world museum specialists.​ Dr Shirin Malikova, Director of the ANCM drew participants' attention to the importance of attracting children to museums and creating a safe and creative space for them.​

Björn Stenvers, CEO of the I-NGO Eye Care Foundation, Chair of the Diamond Museum Amsterdam, and a board member of ICOM International Committee MPR – the conference's keynote speakers – delivered a presentation on The Changing Role of Museums in Children's Audience.​

On the first day of the conference, experts from Azerbaijan, Serbia, Germany, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Latvia, and Russia spoke on the topics Museums and Schools: Horizons of Museum Pedagogy,​ Digital Content for Children in Museums, and Museum Programs for Children and Families.​
