Master classes on revival of the forgotten textile, embroidery and traditional costume in the framework of the project “Cultural Wealth of Azerbaijan”

On October 26, 2016 with the joint organization of the Azerbaijani National Commission for UNESCO and the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, at the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum was held lectures and master classes on restoration of the forgotten textile, embroidery and traditional costume in the framework of the project Cultural Wealth of Azerbaijan.

Master classes on revival of the forgotten textile, embroidery and traditional costume are one of the programs of the project Cultural Wealth of Azerbaijan. The aim of the program is to preserve the handiworks for future generations, build capacity in the field of restoration and create a restoration center that meets international standards.

These lectures and master classes were conducted by Christine Mueller-Radloff, a professional restorer of the textile, embroidery and costume in the Dresden State Art Collections. Mrs. Mueller-Radloff is an experience textile conservator in the Ethnographic Museum of Leipzig (1982-2009) and in the Dresden State Art Collections (since 2010). She took part in a number of training courses held by professional organizations and institutions and she is involved in restoration of different textile collections from all over the world.
