Director of the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum took part in the 43rd Annual Conference of the International Committee for Architecture and Museum Techniques (ICAMT)
On September 14-16, 2017, the 43rd Annual Conference of ICAMT (International Committee for Architecture and Museum Techniques) was held in Belgium. The aim of the conference was to show new and reconstructed museums with remarkable architectural design, modern technologies widely used in this field, and new methods of exposition construction.
The conference was attended by 80 delegates from Belgium, UK, Egypt, the Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, Taiwan, Brazil, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, Japan, France and USA. Among them were architects, designers, museum directors, curators, collection curators, marketing managers, representatives of companies equipping museums, and others.
Our country was represented by Shirin Melikova, President of ICOM Azerbaijan National Committee, and Director of the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum. She made a speech titled When tradition meets modernity. She spoke about the unique architectural solution of the building of the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, the modern technologies used in construction, and the use of advanced methods for unique presentation and storage of exhibits.
During the three days of the conference, five museums in four cities of Belgium were visited. Among them there were museums that were currently repaired and recently opened to the public – The Royal Museum of Central Africa in Brussels, the M Museum in Leuven, Kazerne Dossin and Hof van Busleyden in Mechelen, DIVA Home of Diamonds and M KHA (Museum of Modern Art) in Antwerp.
The conference participants shared their knowledge and experience, and discussed issues related to museums.
