FAMILY DAY

The Azerbaijan Carpet Museum hosted another Family Day. The event was organized as part of the Open Door Day. The primary goals of the event are to unite common interests between parents and children, strengthen the communication bridge, and mainly promote the country’s culture and art.
This time, the Children's Museum Department organized 21 various competitions, games, master classes and other entertainment and educational programs. On the Family Day, the children together with the museum staff traveled to the writer Gulzar Ibrahimova’s world full of magic. HUMEL Psychology Center organized “Tree of Desires” program to identify psychological problems in families and eliminate them through art-therapy.
On the Family Day, organized on the eve of the Day of Azerbaijani Kelagai, special attention was paid to national art. The participants of the master classes obtained detailed information about the history, traditions, and all stages of kelagai preparation. They also participated in the process of embroidering the silk fabric.
As we reported, November 26, Day of Azerbaijani Kelagai, is internationally celebrated. On November 26, 2014, the Traditional Art and Symbolism of Kelagai was included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity at the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum celebrates the Day of Azerbaijani Kelagai for the second consecutive year. Thus, the first event was held on November 17. On that day, a trip to Basgal, land of kelagai, was organized.
