Tour Acquaintance with Collections and Conservation and Restoration Department of the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum
On November 17, 2017, as the part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, as well as museum founder Latif Karimov’s birthday, the tour entitled Acquaintance with Collections and Conservation and Restoration Department of the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum for museum staff and public associations of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia, was organized.
Guests visited the museum exposition, as well as the fund. The keepers of the collections showed them the most interesting exhibits, shared their experience concerning the storage of certain types of valuable museum pieces.
In the Conservation and Restoration Department, guests were shown the process of textile conservation on carpets and carpet products, textile, embroidery, and garments.
The tour ended with a trip to Icherisheher, the workshop of the famous applied artist Khalida Nasirova, who works in the gurama (patchwork) technique.
Khalida Nasirova showed them her works. At the traditional tea service, she told the guests about her creativity, and thus the word gurama became closer and clear to them.
