Lecture “The Medieval Art of Lahij”

The Azerbaijani Carpet Museum hosted a lecture “Medieval Art of Lahij” by Nazar Aliyev, well-known artisan from Lahij. During his speech, Nazar Aliyev talked about the copper production history in Lahij, and noted that this craft is the national and traditional art of Azerbaijan.
He said that in Lahij, copper production was particularly widespread. Speaking of the copper products’ main features in daily life, he gave detailed information about their techniques. He emphasized that the images and ornaments on various copper products serve as decor and reflect the spiritual and aesthetic views of our people. Nazar Aliyev also talked about the development stages of this art, its preservation, passing down from generation to generation. Copper products found in ancient settlements of Azerbaijan serve as proof that copper production took place in the territory of present-day Azerbaijan from early times.
The lecture was accompanied by discussions. Nazar Aliyev also demonstrated the manufacturing process of copper products.
