Opening ceremony of the Flying Carpet exhibition will be held in Austria
The opening ceremony of the Flying Carpet exhibition, which unites young artists and students of Azerbaijan and Austria, will be held at the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Vienna, Austria on April 12. The exhibition organizers are the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Vienna, and the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
The representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Austria, the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, the University of Applied Arts Vienna, and the Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts will attend the opening ceremony. Students from Azerbaijan and Austria have been working for seven months on this project, where they present their artworks, performed in various techniques.
The Flying Carpet exhibition is the final part of the Crossing project. The essence of the project is to reveal the relationship between time in carpet weaving art and to preserve and develop traditions of this art. Students have demonstrated the ability to work in different directions of contemporary art, their fantasies and artistic images that go back to the traditional archetypes. This archetype is a partially restored 19th-century sumakh carpet. They creatively transform the images from the carpet, and these ornaments acquiring the volume and shape in the organic glass become the part of the installation.
It should be noted that the exhibition will last until May 10 at the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Vienna.
