The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum organizes workshops by world-famous felt masters within the framework of the 3rd International Symposium Common language of Turkic World - patterns on the topic Intersections in Felt, October 25-27, Baku.
Do you want to learn how to make fashionable and beautiful accessories made of felt? We invite you to participate in workshops on making felt products using various techniques.

Workshop on Turkish felt technique “Osmanli”
Masters - Mehmet Girgiç and Theresa May-O’Brien

Osmanli technique combines wool and fabrics to create complex physical and visual textures. In this case, color as an element of workmanship is not at the forefront but rather a complement to the texture. Traditional Silk Road embroideries are further translated in this process.
M. Girgiç is one of the founding voices of the modern felt movement, transporting traditional craft to an art form.

The Design Studio “BUKON” is founded by Aidai Asangulova professional artist-designer. The studio united young artist and students. The main direction in creative work of “BUKON” Studio is applying felt in traditional and contemporary ways. One of the tasks of the studio is to promote the professional and creative growth of feltmakers internationally. The studio raised the traditional Kyrgyz technique of making “kiyiz” to a new level, working with materials such as silk, wool, and cotton.

Selçuk Gürışık has been working as commercial designer interests of material culture reflecting through wearable and fashion art practices. Designer/maker, he uses fiber art as a medium of a research tool to expose theory related practice based experimenting products.
