Gashigdan

We continue to share objects from our Carpet Products collection. Today we will talk about GASHIGDAN.

A gashigdan or chomchadan is a longish bag that was used for keeping kitchenware. The front was woven utilizing the zili technique, while the reverse side used the palas technique. It holds spoons, ladles, rolling pins, and other kitchenware accessories. A gashigdan was mainly produced in sizes of 15x30–35 cm. It was generally decorated with geometric patterns and its borders were adorned with fringes.
