Azerbaijan Carpet Museum will bring together world-famous specialists in Baku

The Azerbaijan Carpet Museum will hold the 3rd International Symposium Common Language of Turkic World - Patterns on the topic Intersections in Felt from October 25-27 in Baku. Many world-famous experts in this field from Europe, Asia and America will take part in the event.
Dr Stephanie Bunn, a prominent expert on felt art, is among the participants. She will make a presentation on the topic Felt Cultures and Meeting Places in Eurasia. Dr Stephanie Bunn lectures in Social Anthropology at St Andrews University, Scotland, conducting research into Central Asian felt textiles and Scottish basketry. She collected and co-curated the first ever British Museum exhibition of Kyrgyz felt textiles. She is author of Nomadic Felt (British Museum Press) and editor of Anthropology and Beauty (Routledge). She currently directs the Woven Communities Project (www.wovencommunities.org).
The goal of the international symposium is the exchange of ideas on scientific works in the field of felt art ˗ a common heritage of the Turkic people, the protection and study of its traditions, the revival of its popularity, and its use in various fields.
Discussions on the topics Felt as a Tradition, Felt in Contemporary Art, Felt as a Fashion Trend, as well as two thematic exhibitions, workshops, a fair exhibition and fashion show will be held as part of the symposium.
