We continue to share with our readers the program of the 3rd International Symposium Common Language of the Turkic World ˗ Patterns on the topic Intersections in Felt, October 25-27, Baku. The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum are the symposium organizers.
Many world-famous experts, art historians, artists, and fashion designers in this field from Europe, Asia and America will take part at the international symposium.
Felt masters Theresa and Mehmet Girgiç (Turkey) will be presenting the Osmanlı Technique for felt. This method combines wool and fabrics to create complex physical and visual textures. In this case, color as an element of workmanship is not at the forefront but rather a complement to the texture. Traditional Silk Road embroideries are further translated in this process.
Girgiç is one of the founding voices of the modern felt movement, transporting traditional craft to an art form.
