In Memory of Khojaly Victims
The Azerbaijan Carpet Museum’s staff commemorated twenty-seven years since the Khojaly genocide at Mother’s Cry Monument in Khojaly Park.
The Children and Youth Creative Center No 2 of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan staged the drama play Khojaly at the museum. The drawing exhibition by members of art classes of the Children's Museum was timed to this mournful date.
The website www.slaptai.lt of the Republic of Lithuania published Dr. Shirin Melikova’s article Carmine Roses of Karabakh within the same days. The article relates about the fate of one of ACM exhibit – Bakhchada Gullar carpet, which the Armenian occupiers exported from Karabakh; and a year ago it was sold at auction in San Francisco as an antique Armenian carpet. Thanks to Elshad Tairov, one of our compatriots living in the US, this carpet was returned to its homeland and became a part of the ACM permanent exhibition. Along with this exhibit’s history, in her article, Dr. Shirin Melikova outlines other facts of Armenian vandalism and appropriation of the values of Azerbaijani culture.
