BE MUSEUMER Elevates the Professionalism of Museum Workers in the South Caucasus Region

The project BE MUSEUMER aims to contribute to the development of the museum field in the South Caucasus region and to establish an International Training Programme (ITP) that will benefit museumers (museum personnel). Funded by Creative Europe, this project sets out to strengthen its beneficiaries’ leadership and management skills to respond to 21st-century museum challenges.
BE MUSEUMER is a consortium project led by the Georgian Museum Association (GMA) together with the project partners NEMO – Network of European Museum Organisations (Germany) and the Academy of Cultural Management (Netherlands). Fourteen trainings and seven webinars on relevant subjects will be organised within the project timeframe of three years. The trainings will be open exclusively for museum staff from the South Caucasus region, whereas the webinars also will be open to the general public.
BE MUSEUMER ITP’s first training focused on museum education and took place from the 27th of February to the 1st of March 2019. Margherita Sani, project manager at Istituto Beni Culturali of the Region Emilia-Romagna and member of the NEMO Executive Board, offered a European perspective on museum education to the 20 training participants. She also explained the role and function of informal education, principles of lifelong learning, and public engagement.
Firahnaz Musayeva (Azerbaijan Carpet Museum), and Emin Dadashov (National Museum of History of Azerbaijan) represented Azerbaijan at the first training held within the collaboration with ICOM Azerbaijan National Committee.
