Museum Director’s lecture at the Lomonosov Moscow State University
On April 11, Dr Shirin Melikova, Director of the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, Chair of ICOM Azerbaijan National Committee, Honored Art Worker of Azerbaijan, gave a lecture Azerbaijani Carpet: History and Modernity at the Lomonosov Moscow State University for students of the History Faculty and the Stroganov Moscow State Academy of Arts and Industry. The lecture was held within the project Word to the Leader by the MSU History Faculty. The event was organized by the Russian Federal news agency Vestnik Kavkaza and the MSU History Faculty’s Diaspora History Laboratory.
The lecture was attended by Nigar Akhundova, Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Russia, Tamilla Akhmedova, Head of the Humanitarian Programs Department of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s Russia Branch, Olga Dorokhina, Spouse of the former Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, and other guests. Oksana Solopova, Deputy Head for Academic Affairs of the MSU Department of History of Neighboring Countries, presented MSU certificate to Shirin Melikova.
“This lecture was the first step in a long-term project, organized at the initiative of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Russian Federation to expand knowledge about Azerbaijan, its culture and traditions among students studying history of Azerbaijan at the Lomonosov Moscow State University and all those who interested in the history and culture of our country,” – Shirin Melikova said.
