International Carpet Sketch Contest winners announced!
The jury announced the winners of the international carpet sketch contest dedicated to the 880th anniversary of Nizami Ganjavi.
The contest organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum welcomed creative people over the age of 20 to share their works on the topic 2021 the Year of Nizami Ganjavi. The jury selected two winners out of 43 participants.
The winners are: Azerbaijani artist Eldar Ibadullayev, author of the Thoughts sketch, and Russian designer Olga Lyaschenko, author of the Inticalun sketch (Transition from Arabic). The winners will be awarded a cash prize.
The Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum's Traditional Technology Department will weave carpets based on the winners' sketches. Since one of the winners is a foreign citizen, the organizers will cover her travel and accommodation expenses to attend a solemn ceremony of cutting the carpets off the loom.
