On October 16-20, the IV International Biennale of Applied Arts is being held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. As a member of the international jury, the director of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum Shirin Melikova, takes part in the event organized by the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan. Other members of the jury are Kamola Akilova (Uzbekistan), Patricia Dal-Pra (France) and Yoshiko Saito (Japan).

Shirin Melikova made a speech on Azerbaijani carpet: a New Look at the Ancient Tradition at the conference held within the framework of the international event, the leitmotif of which was Globalization and Preservation of National Traditions: the Way Choice. She gave detailed information about the Azerbaijani carpet art, the importance of its preservation and innovative trends and the creation of new unique, exclusive carpets. She spoke to the participants of the scientific-practical conference about the multifaceted activities such as a Research and Training Center of the museum she heads.

In the framework of the biennale, where the problem of preserving applied art is discussed in the current period of globalization of the economy and massification of culture, along with a scientific and Practical Conference, an exhibition, master classes, etc. are also being held.

At the Biennale, our country is represented by artist Chingiz Babayev (CHINGIZ) and Honored Artist Inna Kostina with their works.
