The Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum to hold the exhibition One Life Patterns dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the People’s Artist Aydin Rajabov
On April 19, the ANCM will hold the opening ceremony of the exhibition One Life Patterns dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Aydin Rajabov, People’s Artist and Head of Decorative and Applied Art Department of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan. The exhibition organised jointly by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum will display up to 40 pile and flat-woven carpets by the artist with unique style and approach to the carpet art. While creating Oghuz Ongons, Oghuz Tamgas, Tale of Goldfish, Dur At (Pegasus), Sacrificial Lamb, The World Tree, Aghajli, Phoenix, Novruz Philosophy, he built a plot inspired by the national traditions, tales and ideas of Turkism; in the carpets Fig Tree, Phaeton Driver and The Oil Kingdom he sings his native Absheron, where he was born and upbrought, while Azerbaijan, Nakhchivan, Shirvan carpets express his endless love for the Motherland.
Being the follower of the outstanding artist and scientist Latif Karimov, Rajabov widely used Turkic and Oghuz ornamental motifs in his works to combine tradition and modernity. We can see the influence of the Azerbaijani miniature art of the Middle Ages in some of his narrative carpets. His works distinguished by perfect composition, colouring, technical features and geometrical stylisation are preserved in local and foreign museums and galleries.
