A 199-Year-Old Karabakh Carpet was Donated to the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum.
The collection of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum has been enriched with another unique art example. Hojat Abasi, a collector, member of the Azerbaijan Literary and Culture Society called Ishiq Yol, living in Berlin, Germany, donated the Karabakh carpet Achma-yumma woven in Shusha in 1825 to the museum.
He noted that he felt happy because he was able to fulfill his desire as a collector and it was one of his greatest dreams to exhibit this 199 year old exquisite work in his native land – in the Shusha branch of the museum. Amina Melikova, director of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, expressed her deep gratitude to Hojat Abasi for his noble initiative and for donating a rare sample of craftsmanship to the museum. She said that Achma-yumma carpet, distinguished by its amazing composition, colour harmony and richness of ornaments, will take its place among the exposition of the Shusha branch of the museum.
It should be noted that the middle area and borders of the carpet are decorated with geometric and floral patterns, stylised human and zoomorphic images.
